Last week, on Stay Whole Tuesday, I shared about mentors, the mentors we know personally and those we aspire to meet. I also touched on the sentence I like to call the greatest ever written by Stephen R. Covey:
“When we engage in work that taps our talents and fuels our passions, in a way that rises out of a great need in the world that we are drawn to by conscience to meet, we are living from our sweet spot, from our true calling, from our soul’s code.”
On Make Anything Thursday, the topic was a tongue-in-cheek poke at ‘all the rage’ Artificial Intelligence. The question I asked:
It’s Make Anything Thursday, and today’s post is about something I’ve been stewing on. Yes, AI is remarkable, and it is undoubtedly having a moment. But might there still be times when good old-fashioned analogue is better?
I am picking up on one of the examples I mentioned – journaling. This weekend, I took a few minutes to update my Black ‘n Red. Each quarter, I use a pyramid system I call Horizons of Success alongside a list of goals or objectives I hope to accomplish.
The horizons of success:
- Action/ground
- Projects
- Focus
- 2-3 years
- 3-5 years
- Legacy
The goals are divided into four categories from Covey’s quote above:
- Faith & Worldview (conscience, soul, spirit)
- Family & Friends (passions, heart, emotional, social, community)
- Financial Peace & Freedom (talents, work, mind, mental)
- Fitness & Sports (need, body, physical)
I’ll let these pictures speak for themselves. If you keep a journal, I’m curious, what system do you like?

Stay whole.
