Today is World Mental Health Day, and appropriately, it lands on Fit as a Fiddle Friday! I’m reminded that strength comes in many forms.
- Sometimes it’s a mile walked in silence.
- Sometimes it’s simply standing up when you’d rather stay on the sofa—physically or emotionally.
Last year, I wrote a poem (for mental health week) called ‘Sometimes’ and you can read it here.
Sometimes by G Page Singletary
Everybody faces hard things: loss, doubt, fatigue, change. When I hit those stretches, I’ve learned to move first and think later. A walk, a ride, some golf, some tennis, a bit of sunshine—simple things that rewire the day.
This year’s theme for World Mental Health Day, “Well-being starts with me,” invites each of us to engage in ways that feel natural and personal. There’s no single formula—just small acts of care that build momentum.
Movement doesn’t erase the weight, but it helps you carry it better.
That’s what Fit as a Fiddle Friday is really about: tuning up, not toughing out.
