Here’s an excellent mantra for Make it a Great Monday. It comes from Derek Sivers, author, philosopher, and entrepreneur. The mantra is the title of one of his short books, which I understand are pretty good. The lesson (and the book): ‘Hell yeah or no.’
The central theme is the “hell yeah or no” rule, suggesting that if you’re not enthusiastic about something, you should say no to make room for what truly matters. Would we all be better off if we learned to say yes to what truly matters and no to everything else?
As I map out my plans for the balance of this calendar year and Autodesk’s fiscal year (30 January 2025), I’m leaning into this mantra. I’m choosing to be highly productive, focusing on one or two significant projects, while eliminating the noise and unnecessary distractions from saying yes to things that don’t truly matter.
Proceeds from Derek’s books go to charity. They can be ordered directly from the author in print and audio through his website, linked above. One minute video from Derek below says it all.
Say ‘Hell yeah!’ and Make it a Great Monday.
[I will be adding ‘Hell yeah or no’ to my Flat Ass Rules to Live By, created in January 2020.]
