It is Stay Whole Tuesday from the fabulous city of San Diego, California. I’m enjoying the first day of my 10th Autodesk University. AU is our annual user conference with 12,000 customers, partners, media, and employees here in person and many thousands more virtually.
Today’s Autodesk University keynote featured two exciting themes:
- Autodesk AI offers simple and practical ways to get work done more efficiently today while preparing our users for the future. There is a lot of hype behind AI. We want our customers to know that Autodesk AI offers significant productivity gains today while building a foundation for more capability in the future.
- Autodesk has been named the Official Design and Make Platform of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Team USA. Our technology will support LA28’s $1B temporary overlay, construction, and sustainability plan. Over the next four years, LA28 will use Autodesk software to help retrofit more than 40 venues across the LA metro area.
Our CEO, Andrew Anagnost, made these points in a LinkedIn share this morning before he went on stage for the main keynote at Autodesk University.
Autodesk has the privilege and unique opportunity to help our customers—architects, engineers, builders, manufacturers, visual artists, and software developers—reimagine how their industries can shape our world by transforming how they work. This week, we’ll cover how emerging technologies like AI can do just that. Inevitably, all new technologies come with a lot of hype, sometimes leaving us frustrated and with dashed expectations. When it comes to AI, we’re still at the peak of the hype cycle, and despite what many companies are saying, the great sorting out of the good from the bad is just beginning.
Some of the things we’re talking about at AU include how we’re:
- Doubling down on the future of building information modeling (BIM) with new data connections and AI capabilities for our customers in architecture, engineering, construction, and operations.
- Unveiling Autodesk AI-powered time-saving automation in our manufacturing cloud, Fusion, as well as design augmentation in our automotive design tool, Alias.
- Making enhancements to our media and entertainment tools, revealing the latest in Wonder Studio, and connecting entire production pipelines with Autodesk Flow.
- Deep-diving on Project Bernini, our paradigm-shifting research project that creates detailed 3D models in under a minute.
Let’s all make the future!
