World Mental Health Day is observed each October 10th to raise awareness of mental health issues.
The theme for World Mental Health Day 2024 is “Mental Health at Work.”
This theme emphasizes the importance of creating supportive work environments that foster mental well-being and address risks such as discrimination, stress, and poor working conditions. Given that around 60% of the global population is engaged in work, this year’s campaign highlights the need for urgent action to protect and enhance mental health in the workplace. The focus includes promoting social inclusion, reducing stigma, and encouraging better mental health policies at work.
At Autodesk, we are periodically gifted days off to recharge, known as Autodays.
Today is an Autoday, and for that, I am grateful. It is nice to work for a company that promotes well-being and work-life balance. Mental health matters to everyone, and promoting good mental health is essential. Our company does a wonderful job of giving everyone places to feel safe and included. We aren’t perfect, but sure try to get it right.
One place where I recharge is the golf course.
I was in good form yesterday, playing for The Richmond Golf Club versus The Stage Golfing Society in the annual match for the Stag’s Head Trophy. The Stage Golfing Society is the second oldest in England, made up of actors, entertainers, comedians, TV celebrities, and musicians. There is no better example of how golf connects communities than the relationship The Stage has with The Richmond Golf Club.
This tradition goes back to 1948 when the committee of The Richmond Golf Club was,
“Pleased to welcome The Stage Golfing Society, which has become associated with the club. A match will be played against the Society on April 16 by foursomes in the morning and four-balls in the afternoon. The club’s Annual Report shows the Stage won that inaugural contest by seven matches to five.”
In yesterday’s match, my partner, Yvonne Baillie, and I, won our match 3 and 2. The club took the trophy back from the Stage by a score of 9.5 to 8.5.

Today’s featured photo highlights a beautiful tree behind our 13th green. I noticed yesterday how this tree looks similar to the tree I recently had illustrated for my book cover, RELEVANCE: From Beginning to End.
Relevance, like a tree with deep roots and expansive branches, represents growth, stability, and the spreading of wisdom and resources.

Thanks @pixeleiderdown at 99 designs for the illustration.
Make it a Great Monday!
