Make Video Work for You in Sales

Autodesk: Make Anything

Make AnythingI am sharing a best practice on our team call tomorrow. We do these shares every couple of weeks. The topic is why we should create and use more video ‘snippets’ in sales. Integrating video into your client engagement strategy can enhance communication, foster trust, and more effectively achieve your business objectives.

It’s Make Anything Thursday at Autodesk, where our tagline is “Make Anything”. Our tools and services empower creators, designers, engineers, and architects to bring their visions to life, from blockbuster movies to the world’s most iconic buildings to the cars you drive and  inspiring products you use. If you can play it, watch it, ride in it, or touch it, the odds are Autodesk helped make it!

Ten reasons to use more video in sales:
Increased Engagement
  • Visual Appeal: Videos are more engaging than text or static images because they combine visuals, audio, and storytelling.
  • Dynamic Content: Movement and sound grab attention and keep clients interested longer.
Improved Communication
  • Clarity: Video allows for more straightforward explanations, especially for complex topics, as visual demonstrations complement verbal explanations.
  • Emotional Connection: Facial expressions, tone, and body language in videos convey emotions better than written communication.
Personalisation
  • Tailored Messages: Customized video messages create a personal touch that makes clients feel valued and understood.
  • Relationship Building: Seeing a human face fosters trust and strengthens relationships.
Better Information Retention
  • Memorability: People retain 95% of a message when delivered in a video compared to 10% when reading text.
  • Repetition-Friendly: Videos can be replayed for better comprehension.
Time Efficiency
  • Faster Understanding: Clients can quickly grasp concepts through videos, reducing back-and-forth explanations.
  • Scalable Content: A single video can simultaneously communicate a message to multiple clients.
Versatility
  • Multiple Use Cases: Videos can be used for product demos, FAQs, onboarding, updates, testimonials, and more.
  • Various Platforms: They can be shared across email, social media, websites, or video conferencing tools.
Higher Conversion Rates
  • Call to Action: Videos with compelling CTAs can drive better client responses and actions.
  • Trust Factor: Clients are likelier to engage with a brand that uses authentic and well-crafted video content.
Showcase Expertise
  • Thought Leadership: Educational videos establish your authority in your field.
  • Portfolio Display: Highlight your past work, services, or success stories effectively.
Cost-Effectiveness
  • Reusable Content: One video can serve multiple purposes over time, providing long-term value.
  • Accessible Technology: Advances in video creation tools make it easy to produce high-quality content even on a budget.
Adaptability to Client Preferences
  • Mobile-Friendly: Videos are ideal for clients who prefer consuming content on their smartphones.
  • Interactive Features: Options like clickable links or interactive quizzes in videos can further boost engagement.

NUGGETS began in the fall of 2010 when our oldest daughter left for college. (Make it a Great Monday; Stay Whole Tuesday; Woman Power Wednesday; Make Anything Thursday; and Fit as a Fiddle Friday.) All these years later, we have a UGA grad, a SCAD grad, a Fightin’ Texas Aggie grad, and 1500 nuggets. Plus, Mum and Dad up and moved to England. Those are my daughters above, and their guiding light – truly my every gPage Singletary thing.

Dear Harvey: Staying in the Game

In the end, Harvey, you left us your Little Red Book—a lifetime of lessons condensed into something small enough to fit in a pocket, yet broad enough to guide generations. These letters are my attempt, in a much humbler way, to do the same—to gather what the game has taught me so far, and to keep discovering what lies at the edges.

Lateral Thinking & AI: The Future of Making

Lateral Thinking + AI is a five-part Make Anything Thursday series exploring how artificial intelligence is reshaping not just the tools we use, but the way we think.
