Adam Lucas says it best: Carolina 94, Duke 81

Make it a Great MondayFor as long as I can remember, the first thing I do after every North Carolina Tar Heel basketball game is read an Adam Lucas column titled Rapid Reactions. It is usually on the Tar Heel Times website within an hour of the game ending, maybe sooner. Adam always has 10 or so ‘blink’ reactions, and they are typically well-articulated. Last night, this is all Adam wrote:

1. I’m going to be honest. I wrote some stuff, but it doesn’t matter. This win will live forever and the Iron Five who played the entire second half are all-time Tar Heel heroes. The last time Mike Krzyzewski ever walks off the court at Cameron Indoor Stadium is after being defeated by the University of North Carolina coached by Hubert Davis in front of everyone who ever slapped the floor for Duke. Carolina 94, Duke 81.

Nothing is better than being with my family and getting the Heels a program-defining victory. We debated if it felt as good as winning a National Championship and decided we couldn’t go there, but it felt damn good. We took the above photo (minus Sally; plus Kevin, instead of Bailey) as a tribute to the below photo after the Heels beat Gonzaga for the ‘Natty’ in 2017. A glorious evening with a squad that came back to avenge the loss to Villanova in the 2016 title game.

If you’re going to fully understand what this rivalry is all about, check out this article Adam released this morning: Lucas: The Unseen. So happy for Hubert Davis!

We did a victory dance last night, but this classic from 2017 gets Sally in the mix as well . . . Enjoy!

NUGGETS began in the fall of 2010 when our oldest daughter left for college. (Make it a Great Monday; Stay Whole Tuesday; Woman Power Wednesday; Make Anything Thursday; and Fit as a Fiddle Friday.) All these years later, we have a UGA grad, a SCAD grad, a Fightin’ Texas Aggie grad, and 1500 nuggets. Plus, Mum and Dad up and moved to England. Those are my daughters above, and their guiding light – truly my every gPage Singletary thing.

Dear Harvey: Staying in the Game

In the end, Harvey, you left us your Little Red Book—a lifetime of lessons condensed into something small enough to fit in a pocket, yet broad enough to guide generations. These letters are my attempt, in a much humbler way, to do the same—to gather what the game has taught me so far, and to keep discovering what lies at the edges.

Lateral Thinking + AI is a five-part Make Anything Thursday series exploring how artificial intelligence is reshaping not just the tools we use, but the way we think.
